Fri, Dec 12
|Peretz Centre for Secular Jewish Culture
For this special Fraytik tsu Nakht (Friday Night), we invite community members and friends to celebrate a culturally-vibrant, peacenik Khanike (Hanukkah) with food, games, live music, and dance

Time & Location
Dec 12, 2025, 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Peretz Centre for Secular Jewish Culture, 6184 Ash St, Vancouver, BC V5Z 3G9, Canada
Event Description
The last Fraytik tsu Nakht of 2025, just days before the start of Khanike (Hanukkah), will be a Peretz party open to all!
Festival of Lights? Celebration of rebellion? Miracle of the oil? Winter Solstice? Jewish Christmas? Feast of fried foods? The holiday contains many fascinating (and sometimes troubling) meanings. At the Peretz Centre, our holiday event emphasizes the things that bring us together as a diverse community -- not militarism or nationalism, but peace, justice, and mutual liberation. With joyful celebration, we affirm our capacity to create a better and more beautiful world for all living beings.
Our table will be a culturally-vibrant feast, with freshly-fried potato latkes (gluten-free available), food from our friends at Lin's Chinese Cuisine, and handmade sfenj (Moroccan doughnuts) for dessert.
🕎 Bring your menorahs/hanukkiahs for communal candle-lighting
🕎 Candle-making and dreydl crafts for all ages
🕎 Hanukkah games and trivia for this deeply strange holiday
