Event Description

Fraytik tsu Nakht Cultural Shabbes & Potluck is open to all, beginning with our community's Secular Humanist Shabbes observance (songs and readings) followed by a potluck dinner and a special nigunim (group singing) workshop led by Antonia Lassar. If you haven't experienced this kind of musical event before, nigunim are melodic and repetitive tunes sung in groups, usually without words (just sounds like "dai-dai-dai").

This month's community shabbes event is co-hosted by JQT and open to members and friends of all ages. There will be an alternative hang-out space for kids organized by the Peretz Child Activities Committee.

Friday, October 24, 2025 (6-9pm)

Nigunim Workshop with Antonia Lassar

ree

Come lift your voice in community at a special evening of group singing led by songleader Antonia Lassar. We'll explore old Jewish melodies, new nigunim, and improvised harmonies, weaving our voices together in joy and connection. Whether you're a seasoned singer, ready to hum along, or just love to listen, this is a space to challenge yourself, open your heart, and discover deeper connections—to the music, to the tradition, and to each other. No experience necessary—just bring your voice and your curiosity!

Our Songleader: Antonia Lassar is a comedian/actor/hot person who blew up on The Jewish Internet with her viral TikToks. Her comedy has been featured by Just For Laughs, Glamour Magazine, USA Today, and, obviously, Hey Alma. You can catch her performing with the iconic UCB Theatre, co-hosting the Yenta Podcast, or crushing standup in LA and your mom’s synagogue.
