Event Description

Our next guest lecturer in the Zhargon Speakers Series 2023 is Dr. Tony Michels. Dr. Michels will talk about Trans-Atlantic Connections between the United States and Russia in the context of early 20th century revolutionary politics.


The lecture will take place over Zoom on Saturday, May 6th, 4-5:30pm.


 

Tony Michels is the George L. Mosse Professor of American Jewish History and Director of the Mosse/Weinstein Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Wisconsin. His research and teaching interests include American Jewish history, Yiddish culture, Russian Jewish history, socialism, working-class history, and nationalism. He is the author of A Fire in Their Hearts: Yiddish Socialists in New York and Jewish Radicals: A Documentary History.
