Event Description
Knobl un Honik Kollectiv, in partnership with Peretz, are very grateful to be hosting a Yiddish and Ladino Singalong at Knobl un Honik's biweekly shmuez. Our special guests (and Kollectiv members) this month are the talented artist Shaurie Bidot, their musical partner Elijah, and Aurel Matte (member of the Peretz Yiddish Choir)! Feel free to bring a Yiddish and/or Ladino song to share. Beginners to either language and all singing voices are very welcome. Signup is free and donations at the door (suggested between 0 and $36) are very welcome. The location of the event is the HiVe co-working space downtown.Â
Bios:
Shaurie is an Afro-Latinx interdisciplinary artist who explores her ancestries through art. She is also of Sephardi Jewish descent and is helping to revive the Ladino language through music.
Elijah is an interdisciplinary artist and music producer that connects to his Jewish ancestry through paper cutting art and folk music that explores being in the diaspora.
Accessibility note: HiVe is unfortunately not very physically accessible, as you need to go up a flight of stairs. While we are very grateful for the generous space sharing for this event, Knobl un Honik we will be looking into more accessible venues in the future to enable everyone to feel as welcome as possible. Thank you for your patience as we find our physical homes and event venues.
Looking forward to seeing you there!Â
