Event Description

For the 40th Anniversary of the Vancouver Jewish Folk Choir, come celebrate with Yiddish and other Jewish music. The theme of this year's spring concert is Freylekhe lider: Yiddish Party Songs.

New songs mingle with old favourites, including a Yiddish #metoo number, and the always-popular "Yomervokhets" (Jabberwocky in Yiddish). The concert will be opened by Michael Friedman: guitar virtuoso, singer-songwriter, and son of choir founders Searle and Sylvia Friedman, o"h. The choir will perform upbeat happy music, mostly Yiddish, arranged by Searle, current conductor David Millard, plus a few songs arranged by former accompanist Elliott Dainow and current choir tenor Dan Carkner.

The concert will be followed by a reception of light refreshments.
