Judío!
The
second annual
Festival
of Latin American Jewish Culture
October 30, 2005
There
has been a Jewish presence in Latin America for over 500 years and its
development and contribution to the history of the region is a story
not yet told. Everyone is invited to enjoy this glimpse into a rich
but little-known culture that, thanks to recent immigration, now thrives
in our midst.
This
year's ¡Festival
Judío! will include a piñata-making
workshop for all ages, the workshop Play with Words (in English)
for all ages, balloon animals, face painting, hot dog and empanada
lunch, and a concert by Argentina-born mezzo soprano Fabiana
Katz.
Sunday
October 30, 11:00: Mexican-born Delta Vásquez Léon
will teach you how to make a piñata, followed by an opportunity
for the children to break a a pre-made
piñata.
Admission: $5, to cover cost of materials.

October 30, 12:00: Hot dog and empanada lunch for sale,

October 30, 1:00: Argentina-born writer-artist Silvana Goldemberg
will lead a workshop for families, Play with Words,
in English. Admission: Free.
Sunday
October 30, 1:00: Mexican-born Delta Vásquez Léon
will "show and tell" the native costumes of Mexico.
Sunday October 30, 4:00: Argentina-born mezzo soprano
Fabiana Katz will sing a concert, From Pampas to Kibbutz: Songs
from Argentina, the Ghetto, Yiddish Theatre and the land of Israel.
Admission:$15.
